Gotta Hear This: Lover, You Should’ve Come Over by Jeff Buckley

Image

No explanation needed. Jeff Buckley is one of the greats.

‘It’s never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It’s never over, all my riches for her smiles when i slept so soft against her
It’s never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
It’s never over, she’s the tear that hangs inside my soul forever’

Sunday Family Dinner

image

Tonight we had my grandparents over for dinner & my mom and I made Chili with an Eggnog & Rum Coffee Cake for dessert. We usually have Sunday dinners at my Grandparents house, but we wanted to switch things up a bit and make dinner for them instead. They always make the most delicious meals, so we had our work cut out for us!

My mom’s famous chili is sooo good. SoSooooo good that I actually ended my 2-year stint of Vegetarianism tonight and ate meat. Yup, that’s right. After 2 years of not eating any meat, I ate the chili tonight and it. was. delicious. No regrets whatsoever!

The meal turned out great, but the company was even better. We love spending quality time with family and always look forward to our Sunday family dinners.

Random fact: I cried like a baby for a good 3 songs during his concert. What can I say, music makes me emotional, can’t help it.

What’s Goin’ On: Fall Update

Image

This may be the most randomest post ever, (just warning ya now). But we’ve been MIA lately and haven’t been posting nearly as much as we’d like so we wanted to give you guys a little update!

The reason for the lack of posts is because we have been COMPUTERLESS (i know right?! bloggers without a computer – such a nightmare) for almost a month now which makes blogging extremely challenging… to say the least.

We are currently blogging using 2 Ipads (one full-size & one mini), which makes things just a tad bit harder. The formatting & text in new posts get all screwed up most of the time & editing text takes awhile, but the hardest thing is adding photos. We use a Canon camera, and don’t have a way to get the photos online right now.

Fear not! We are still busy baking new recipes which are all ready to go & will all be posted as soon as we get a new computer to upload & edit them! Until then, we are doing our best to continue to post regularly.

We took some IPhone shots of some recipe sneak peaks below & some other random photos… Check it out! 🙂

To add to the randomness of this post, we are going to end this post with a little MUSIC(is there really any better way to end a blog post? 😉 )

What’s On Your Ipod: 5 Current Favorites

Instead of choosing just one song to feature, I thought I’d switch it up a bit and feature 5 songs. These are the 5 songs on my Ipod that I’m currently addicted to…

Do your ears a favour and check errr out!

1. She Wants To Know by Half Moon Run

Image

Band Links: Facebook, Twitter

My other favorite songs from their Debut album ‘Dark Eyes’ are Need It & Call Me In The Afternoon.

 2. Real Love by The Boom Booms

image

Real Love is available for FREE download here!

I love everything about The Boom Booms – their name, chill tunes & positive vibes.

I got the chance to see them live this past Summer and have been hooked ever since. Their live show is incredible. So uplifting – its like one big, soulful dance party. They are constantly touring, so if you get a chance to see them live, DO IT! You won’t be disappointed.

3. If I Didn’t Know Better by Sam Palladio & Clare Bowen (from the television show Nashville)

image

John Paul White of The Civil Wars wrote this song with singer-songwriter Arum Rae. White and his Civil Wars bandmate, Joy Williams originally recorded the song for their ‘Live at Eddie’s Attic’ 2009 album.

I love Sam & Clare’s version on the show.

Sam Palladio who plays Gunnar on Nashville is in an indie folk band called Salt Water Thief.

4. Crying In The Night by Buckingham Nicks

image

Buckingham Nicks is a 10-track LP that Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham recorded before joining Fleetwood Mac. Although the album was considered a commercial flop and was never officially released, there are quite a few gems on the CD. Crying In The Night is my favorite.

5. Crooked Smile by J. Cole feat. TLC

From my headphones to yours, Enjoy. 🙂

Song: Fresh Pair of Eyes
Artist: Brooke Waggoner

This songs been on repeat since I first heard it a few days ago on the tv show Pretty Little Liars. Yes, I watch Pretty Little Liars – its actually a pretty good show! I wasn’t interested in it at all when it first aired on tv a few years ago and never watched it, but I’ve been desperate since my laptop broke down a few days ago & since I can no longer watch any shows on the laptop, I’ve resorted to Netflix & randomly ended up choosing PLL. I’m actually pleasantly surprised at how good it is! (plus the show plays some really good songs) Just finished season one & I’m hooked. (must find out who A is!)

Okay, got totally sidetracked there – lets get back to the music…

Brooke Waggoner is an incredible indie folk/pop artist based in Nashville, Tennessee.
She has released 4 albums, and her latest (titled Originator) was released on March 5, 2013. Brooke released all her 4 albums independently, and all the music was fully orchestrated, written and arranged by her.

Over the past few years, Brooke won the ‘NBN Emerging Artist Award’ at the Nashville Music Awards, and was also nominated for a prestigious Independent Music Award, her songs have been played on many tv shows such as Pretty Little Liars & Grey’s Anatomy, she’s released a Live Concert DVD, produced/collaborated with many different artists, & has even performed/recorded with Jack White on his album, Blunderbuss.

Quote from Brooke about the recording process on her latest record:
(Quote from Brooke’s Facebook Page)

After numerous cups of coffee, late nights spent exchanging notes and emails, and geeking out over TalkTalk records we decided recording this LP in an old-fashioned and traditional manner only made sense. Vintage gear and 2″ tape. No computers — Just a room with really good musicians and ears for beautiful things.”

If you’re looking for real, genuine talent & captivating, beautiful songs – check out Brooke Waggoner.

illhueminati Photoshoot Outtakes

Image

My brother (Nick – cofounder of the illhueminati) asked me to model some t-shirts for his company the other day, and I was honoured & more than happy to do it!

Just wanted to post some of the outtakes from the photoshoot!
All photos are shot by Nick L.

The illhueminati is an amazing movement, and the site just launched on September 1st! I’m so proud of my brother for all the hard work he’s put in, and everything he’s accomplished.

Check out the site for more info:
http://www.illhueminati.org

‘The illhueminati began as a meme on Twitter in August 2012 in opposition to the image and label based cultures which seek to standardize beauty and being, and by doing this, produce divisions which cause suffering by perpetuating self-image problems and arbitrary ideas of superiority and inferiority.’

‘The illhueminati is a contribution driven, borderless community which seeks to assist and enable the publication and promotion of ideas and independent artists who might otherwise not have access to this kind of support.’

Thanks again to Nick & Santino for letting me be a part of it. 🙂
